St Catherine’s children benefit from former generations of Catholics, whose contributions have been used to achieve many of the facilities that your children enjoy today.  St Catherine’s, unlike many schools, has a Voluntary Aided status which means that the School owns the school buildings (this is unlike other local schools such as Danegrove and Underhill). As a result of this status, we (the school community) have to contribute 10% to any building work and maintenance; we are not helped in this by the Local Authority, Government or the church; we simply rely on the generosity of our parents.

Over the past few years we have been fortunate to be able to access funding to do the following:

  • Carry out urgent repairs to the roof, which is now completely watertight.
  • Significantly improve the learning environment for the nursery children with replacement windows, a new canopy and play equipment in the outdoor play area.
  • Replace the windows in the hall
  • Fit a new disability lift to ensure access for all.
  • Improving the children’s toilets in the dining room

Access to the funding required to facilitate these works relies on your generosity and contributions to the fund.

Parents are asked to consider making a regular donation to help this important development of the School campus.

Standing Orders

We ask each family, to set up a Standing Order with a suggested monthly contribution of £20 per child. We understand that not all families can afford this and others can afford more – we currently have contributions ranging from £5 to £60 monthly. We would ask each family to be as generous as possible but to give something on a regular basis as we rely on your support.

Gift Aid Scheme

If you are a UK taxpayer, The Gift Aid Scheme allows us to claim back from HMRC an extra 25p for every £1 donated. It will be not cost you any extra. This applies to ParentPay and standing order contributions.  Details of the scheme are available at www.hmrc.gov.uk/individuals/giving/gift-aid.htm.

You can also download the gift aid form from the Governors section of the school website.

Thank you in anticipation of your cooperation.
