Mealtime Supervisor
Start Date: As soon as possible
Salary: £25,854 TO £27,030 FTE (level A)
Hours: 10 hours per week, term time only.
Basis: This role is offered as a one year contract initially.
The Midday Supervisors are responsible for overseeing the care and wellbeing of the children during their lunch period, both inside the dining hall and outside on the playground. This role is an important one to ensure the smooth running of the busy lunch time. The main duties inside will be to prepare and reset the dining hall tables ready for the students and to maintain a calm and orderly environment, and outside to ensure a safe play environment and good behaviour at all times.
Responsibilities will include:
- Supervision of the children in the dining hall at lunch times, being aware of pupils’ activities at all times
- Ensure polite behaviour at lunch tables and offer assistance to pupils requiring help with their lunches
- Facilitate smooth running of the meal service by assisting with plates / water / cutlery
- Supervise the children on the playground and organise engaging play activities
- Administer minor first aid as required
- Assist the kitchen with clearing/rubbish/tables as required
- Clear and store the playground equipment as required
- On wet days, supervise a class of children within the classroom, encouraging calm activities
The above duties may be in any key stage within the school, from Nursery to Year 6.

St Catherine’s is a two form entry Catholic primary school for pupils 2-11 years. We are looking to appoint a Level 3 Teaching Assistant to join the team at St Catherine’s for 5 days per week, from 08.30 to 15.45 daily (33.75 hours per week). This position is offered as a one year contract initially and will commence at the start of the autumn term.
You will need to have a Level 3 qualification or a similar amount of experience and should have carried out a Level 3 TA role before and have previous experience of covering classes on an ad-hoc basis. You must have sound knowledge of how children learn and a number of strategies to encourage learning. You will need to be sensitive to the special needs of individual children and be able to work as part of a team. Previous experience of working with special needs children on a one to one basis and running intervention groups would be useful. You need to be willing to work across all the age phases here at St Catherine’s (Nursery to KS2). You will need to be comfortable to cover classes for teacher absence across EYFS and Key Stages 1 and 2. Candidates will need to demonstrate initiative and enthusiasm and have excellent literacy and numeracy skills.
