Black History Assembly and Workshops

On Thursday morning, Key Stage Two enjoyed an assembly about Black inventors and scientists from Tony Warner at ‘Black History Walks’. They learned about people like scientist Margaret Ebunoluwa Aderin-Pocock and her work helping to make satellites. They also learned about Bernice Dapaah, an inventor from Ghana, who created a bike made from bamboo. The children enjoyed hearing how the scientists and inventors have helped add to things we use every day, like computers.

Year Five, enjoyed a workshop about the hidden Black history in London and how Black people have influenced the U.K, since the Roman times. They learned about people like John Blanke, who was a trumpeter during the early Tudor period. The children were really engaged in the topic and made amazing contributions.
