Year 6 Netball Tournament

The day our netball team had long awaited had finally arrived and our team made up of Lewis, Darragh, Amelia, Hannah, Vashik, Alex and Maria were ready. An array of schools from all across Barnet had gathered to display their netball skills and we felt confident in our ability. Our first task: win all of our group stage games and finish top of our group so that we could advance to the semi-finals.

After four hard fought matches, we remained unbeaten in our group and finished top. Our fast passing and vision on the court meant we dominated every game in the group stage; Miss Sonenfeld and Ms Groom stood delighted on the side lines watching St Catherine’s slick play. Our semi-final match was against Livingstone- a tough side who we managed to secure a hard-fought win against in our league match. Sadly, it was not our day and after a 0-0 draw, with numerous extra times, Livingstone managed to grasp a last minute ‘golden goal’ to secure their place to the final. Gutted was an understatement but we were all immensely proud of what we had achieved. Well done St Catherine’s for securing 3rd place in what was an extremely competitive tournament with high-level netball. Our player of the tournament was Lewis, his intricate passing and leadership on the court was invaluable.
