Year 5 Trip to Chipping Barnet Food Bank

On Wednesday 26th September, Year 5 visited Chipping Barnet Food Bank (at the Mary Immaculate and St Peter Church). The children were shown around the Food Bank and found out how the Food Bank supports the community of Barnet. Children learned how volunteers are needed at a food bank and how their role plays a vital part in giving direct support to people who use food banks.  Children had the opportunity to prepare and pack food parcels.

The Year 5 children found this to be an informative and valuable, as well as an educational trip.

As you know our school collects items during Harvest and donates them to local organisations. It was lovely to hear that St Catherine’s is the largest donor of items to Chipping Barnet Food Bank during Harvest.  This demonstrates that we have a real positive impact in our local community.
