Year 4 Weekly Update – 09/06/23

Dear Parents and Carers,

Year 4 have had a wonderful first week back and start to our new topic Blue Abyss. Today we have been participating in World Ocean Day activities including a ‘Surfs Up’ Yoga lesson and an artistic draw-along during which, children drew their own coral reef!

School Trip: Thank you so much to all the parents who have offered to help with our upcoming trip to London Zoo. We will be choosing helpers by picking names out of a hat, when this has been done, we will be in contact with more information about the day.

Times Tables: The MTC Check will be administered W/C 19th June. Each child will complete the test in a small group with their teacher and a few peers. As this is fast approaching, we encourage you to work with your child at home as much as possible to help prepare them. Please use TTRS and purple mash whenever you can.

Spelling Words:  question, recent, regular, reign, remember, sentence, separate, special, straight, strange

English: Next week in English we will be continuing our poems about Ocean pollution. This week the children have started to learn about figurative language techniques, which we will be applying next week.

Maths: Next week, children will learn to write and represent a given amount of money in decimal. They will then focus on converting/comparing amounts of money.

RE: Children will learn that we all belong to a community. They will learn about different types of community and will develop their understanding of what it means to belong to the community of the Church. They will know that people become a member of the Church through Baptism.

PSHE: Next week in PSHE children will recognise that people are unique and that our similarities and differences should be celebrated. Pupils will also be given an opportunity to reflect on God’s love as the foundation of our self-confidence.
