Y3 trip to Barnet

Last Friday , Year 3 visited Barnet Museum and Barnet Church as part of their topic, Urban Pioneers. In the museum, we saw a presentation showing images and maps of Barnet from many years ago which were then compared to present day photographs and maps. Following this, we learned about one of the most prominent parts of Barnet History- the Battle of Barnet as we took part in a recreation of the events. Finally, we explored the wonderful artefacts that spanned the three floors of the museum. In Barnet Church, we began by hearing all about the history of the church which dates back as far as 1,000 years ago and we looked at which parts of the church were oldest. We then heard the fascinating history of Thomas Ravenscroft and saw his tomb. A final treat meant we were each allowed to ring the church bell as we left. We all had a fantastic day learning about the wealth of history that surrounds us in Barnet.
