Dear Parents,
Next half term our new topic is ‘Off with Her Head’, we have attached the knowledge organiser.
Key Dates:
Friday 31st March- Early Finish 1:30pm- please see last week’s email for a link if your child is an independent traveller.
In English, we have written a description of a setting, we had to include: specific and sophisticated vocabulary and figurative language to describe a setting. We will then edit our work and highlight the features we have used from the steps to success checklist.
In Maths, we have started our ‘Percentages and Decimals’ unit. To begin this unit we looked at decimals up to 2 decimal places. We then looked at the equivalence between fractions and decimals, focusing on tenths and hundredths.
In Art, the children created pictures inspired by the artist Giuseppe Arcimboldo, who used still life images of fruits and vegetables to create portraits of faces. They created their own picture using oil pastels to bring out the colour of the produce and a black sharpie pen to emphasise the outline. We discussed what mood had been conveyed in the composition and how the artist achieved this.
