NSPCC Number Day – 20/01/23

We are delighted to be taking part in Number Day on Friday 3rd February. Number Day is a great way to make Maths fun and bring about a positive, ‘can-do’ attitude towards it. We are planning to have a fun day of Maths number activities. We would like the children to come into school with a number which they stick on themselves. The children will ask each other what their number is and explain why they chose that number. For example, it can be the total age of all their family members or the mean of the number of people in their family or the number of days they have been alive or the distance to their grandparents house in metres or km. For the younger children it could be their door number or how many times they have been to a beach or the number of legs on a centipedeAs part of our commitment to make maths exciting in our school, Key Stage 2 children will take part in a friendly TT Rockstars competition involving schools in the United Kingdom. It’s a 1-day competition which starts at 7:30am and ends at 7:30pm. Children will be given the opportunity to participate in the tournament during the day at school and then if possible, we would like the children to participate at home too. We’re really looking forward to all the fun of Number Day!
