Year 4 Weekly Update – 25/11/22

Dear Parents and Carers,

In Year 4, this week we have continued to learn around our focus of ‘Potions’. Children have discussed the features of instructional texts and have designed their own imaginative potions.  We were really impressed by their creative ideas. We have also been busy practising our Nativity Play ready for our fast-approaching Christmas performance!

Spellings: This week we are continuing to revise Year 3 and 4 statutory words:

Group, guard, guide, heard, heart, height, history, imagine, increase, important

Times tables: Next week we will be focusing on the 8 times tables. Please continue to practise at home using both times table rock stars and purple mash. Please ensure your child is completing the home learning times table test on purple mash.

English:  Next Week in English we will be looking into the language Shakespeare uses in Macbeth. We will be discussing poetic devices andthinking about how we can create atmosphere and mood within our writing.

Maths: In Maths, we will be revisiting learning from Year 3 around multiplications and times-tables. Children will use familiar representations such as number tracks and hundred squares to represent multiples of numbers.

RE:  In RE, children will learn about the promise God made to Mary through the angel Gabriel and learn how Joseph put his trust in God when the angel appeared to him.

PSHE: Next week in PSHE we will be talking about resilience, what it means and how we can build it.

 Reminder:

  • Please continue to practise your lines for the upcoming Christmas Nativity.
  • Please Bring your child’s Nativity costumes to school in a named plastic bag by Friday at the latest.

Kind Regards,

Miss Bonfield and Mrs. Santangelo
