Year 6 Weekly Update – 09/09/22

Dear parents/carers,

We have had an excellent first week of learning and we have been extremely impressed with their attitude to their learning.
The learning for next week is:
English: Linked with our new class novel holes: writing a diary entry and analysing different characters
Maths: To read and write numbers to 10 million, powers of 10, numberline to 10 million, compare and order any integers
Geography: Identifying the human and geographical features of Mexico
RE: To understand and explain what the Kingdom of God is like and to recall the values of the Kingdom of God
Guided Reading: A focus on inference linked with our text Holes
Science: To understand how mirrors reflect light, and how they can help us see objects
Spellings:
Words ending in -able and -ible:

adorable, horrible, terrible, forgivable, possible, disposable, edible, enjoyable, reversible, valuable, invincible, breakable, legible and identifiable
Attached are the Alan Peat sentence types we will be using in our writing, please feel free to practise using them at home with your child. We have also attached the Y3/4 and Y5/6 spelling lists which need to be additionally revised and monitored with your child.
Next week a list of useful Maths and English lessons will be emailed out to you if you wish to do any further home learning with your child.
