Year 6 Weekly Update – 17/06/22

Dear parents/carers,

We have had another fantastic week of learning in Year 6 this week and we were incredibly proud of their fantastic prayer service on Wednesday. A big thank you to all of the parents that came and watched!
The learning for next week is:
English: continuing with our shape poetry about blood and learning about the difference between a smokers’ and non-smokers’ lungs.
Maths: Metric measures and converting metric measures
Guided Reading: Summarising vipers skill linked with ‘Pig Heart Boy’ by Malorie Blackman
Today we have just begun rehearsals for our end of year production called ‘Shakespeare Rocks’ which we will be performing to you on Friday 8th July at 9.30am. Your child will know their part in the play by Wednesday next week. Song lyrics as well as lines will be handed out, please can you support your child in learning their lines and any actions/acting that may go with it. In the meantime, if your child would like to practise then they can use YouTube to rehearse the songs.
Next Wednesday 22nd June we will be having a additional D&T/Art lesson at Totteridge Academy. We need 3 parents per class to help accompany us on our walk there. We will be leaving at 10.15am and returning back to school for 1.30pm. A letter has gone out today so please ensure that you have read this. Thank you to those parents who have already volunteered to help us. Similarly for our sports morning at Totteridge Academy we will need parent volunteers then too. We will leave at 8.50am and return at 12.30pm. Thank you to those parents who have already volunteered for this too.
Please can you ensure that your child brings in a water bottle (preferably a reusable water bottle), a hat and wears suncream.
Thank you for your continued support,

Year 6 Team
