On Tuesday afternoon our girl’s football team travelled to St. John’s for this eagerly awaited fixture. After weeks of training we were ready for our first competitive match as a group and after a good training session on Monday the girl’s were pumped for this fixture. On a wet afternoon the match got off to an even start with both teams creating chances, it was not until mid way through the first half until we took one of our chances. Harmony whipped in a devilish free-kick to the back post to Emilia Grazioli who somehow managed to poke the ball past the outrushing keeper. Now we had the lead our tails were up and right before half time we added our second of the match, again it was Emilia with another impressive finish. At half time I warned the girl’s of a potential St. John’s backlash, however St. John’s were unable to get a foot hold back into the match due to our girl’s admirably defending and positional discipline. As the game drew to a close we added a third through a wonderful strike from Niamh, resulting in us running out 3-0 winners. Mr Pagnotta & I want to stress how im-pressed we were with the girls, as not only did we score 3 goals we also managed to keep a clean sheet in our first competi-tive match as a squad. I would also like to give a special mention to Miss Kelly, Mrs McKenzie & Mrs Isaacs as their help and support made this fixture possible.
Well done girls!
Mr Reilly
