Year 3 Weekly Update – 18/11/22

Dear Parents and Carers,
Spellings: superlatives
Times tables
This week, please could you practise the 4 times tables with your child.
Last week’s Times Tables Rockstars challenge was Year 3 against Year 4. Year 4 unfortunately won so we have set another challenge for this week, boys vs girls! As always, this ends on Sunday.
Please note that as a school we are taking part in ‘England Rocks’, a national competition on Times tables Rock stars. As of this morning St Catherine’s was ranked 604 out of 3,798 schools taking part. Please encourage your children to play for the next two days to help bump up our ranking.
This week, we will be adding and subtracting numbers with no exchanges. Next week, we will be adding numbers across a 10 and across 100.
This week we are learning about paired conjunctions and similes. We will also look at the features of an adventure story and will examine a model text. Next week, we will start writing our adventure stories.
This week we will be creating information books about the Stone age using Powerpoint.
Forest school
We will continue Forest school this half term. Please ensure that the children have wellies and appropriate wet weather gear in the event of bad weather.
In Science this week, we learned about the different parts of a plant and their functions. The children spent time outside observing and labelling plants.
Home school books
Please ensure that your child’s home school book and reading record is always in their bag to enable us to change it when the opportunity arises.
Kind regards,
Miss Grace and Mrs Ball
