Year 2 Weekly Update – 20/05/22

Dear parents,
This week in English the children have been learning about adverbs. They have been writing in role as a character from the Night Pirates and trying to use both adjectives and adverbs in their writing.
In Maths the children have begun to learn about time. They have been reading analogue clocks to the nearest five minutes and have been learning how to draw hands on a clock.
In R.E the children have been learning about Jesus’s ascension. They have been thinking about how this was both a sad and happy time for the disciples.
Please remember that tomorrow is our school trip. Your child should wear their school uniform and bring a packed lunch in a plastic bag. They do not need to bring their book bag to school. Please be reminded of our school policy on packed lunches: these should be healthy and not contain chocolate, biscuits or crisps. We will return by the end of the school day.
Home Learning for this Week
Next week in spelling we will be focusing on homophones: words that sound the same, but are spelt differently. Please help your child to learn the following words and when to use them:
their
they’re
there
knew
new
hear
here
For the Maths home learning this week, we would like the children to focus on learning their 2, 5 and 10 times tables. Please encourage your child to log on to Times Tables Rockstars to practise these.
Thanks for your support.
Best wishes,
Miss Fielden and Mrs. Whyatt
