Barnet Champions!

Ours boys football team ended the season in glory on Tuesday afternoon. After winner our section of the Central league earlier in the season it was time for title showdown VS Underhill. The boys knew they would have to rise to the occasion against the Central Cup and Dick Bailey winners to lift the trophy after the final whistle.

Both teams started brightly as expected but it was us who broke the deadlock through a wonderful individual goal by John (6C) to give us an early lead. Underhill came back strong towards the end of the first half, leaving us 2-1 down at the break, but clearly not out. Our boys started the second with a hunger in their belly’s to ensure they didn’t end the season empty handed. After a number of near misses super sub Freddie (6C) came on to take the final to extra time. No more goals were to come and our boys held their nerves accompanied by heroics from our outstanding goalkeeper Nathan (6C) to ensure St. Catherine’s would be lifting the trophy for the third year running!

I would like to thank every member of our league winning squad, parents, staff and Barnet School Sports Partnership in making this another great year for everyone involved at St. Catherine’s.

Well done boys!
