Tuesday 23 June 2026 French Weekly Update w/e 19/06/26 Year 3 pupils constructed their own vocabulary dice to practise French weather phrases and learnt how to play a game. You can score points for asking and saying the weather - but you can lose them if you throw an impossible situation… Il fait chaud et il fait froid? Impossible!

Tuesday 23 June 2026 3MG Weekly Update w/e 19/06/26 In Literacy, we explored leaflets from a variety of attractions and identified key common features. We made a list of catchy slogans and powerful descriptions that are designed to persuade people to visit these places.

Friday 19 June 2026 3FW Weekly Learning w/e 19/06/26 In Art we have been looking at examples of Urban Art - often referred to as graffiti. We talked about similarities, differences and pieces we liked or disliked, giving reasons for our answers. We discussed examples we had seen in our towns and thought about whether we considered it art or vandalism. In response, the children produced their own tag artwork in the style of an artist or piece studied.

Friday 12 June 2026 3FW Weekly Learning w/e 12/06/26 This week, the children did a variety of different practical activities with money to increase their understanding. They solved various problems with money, one of which was to make certain amounts using the fewest coins and notes possible.

Thursday 11 June 2026 3FW Weekly Update w/e 05/06/26 As part of our DT project, the children made moving vehicles. I was so impressed with their designs and their collaborative skills to create their wonderful final pieces.

Thursday 11 June 2026 3MG Weekly Update w/e 05/06/26 In Maths we explored finding a fraction of an amount and used dienes and bar models to help us with the tricky calculations.

Tuesday 2 June 2026 3MG Weekly Update w/e 22/05/26 In groups, 3MG created their own volcano out of natural materials. They then watched as bicarbonate of soda reacted with vinegar to create a volcanic eruption.

Tuesday 2 June 2026 3FW Weekly Update w/e 22/05/26 Today in Maths the children were playing a fun Bingo game - they had to read a question out, calculate the problem and then find the answer on their Bingo boards. The problems involved adding and subtracting measurements.

Wednesday 20 May 2026 3MG Weekly Update w/e 15/05/26 In Maths, we worked in groups to identify the capacity of containers and to compare the volume of liquids. We used our understanding of scales and increments in litres and millimetres to help us.

Wednesday 20 May 2026 3FW Weekly Update w/e 15/05/26 This week we combined our Art learning with our Forest School session. Rocks were arranged in different types, sizes and colours and crystals into interesting sculptural forms.

Tuesday 12 May 2026 French Weekly Update w/e 08/05/26 Year 3 pupils learnt about illness and injuries through a song about going to the doctor. Then they did speaking and writing tasks to explain where it hurts! Aïe!

Tuesday 12 May 2026 3FW Weekly Update w/e 08/05/26 In R.E this week, following on from our May procession, the children have been learning about the importance of Mary in prayer with the disciples and now with us too.

Tuesday 12 May 2026 3MG Weekly Update w/e 08/05/26 In Maths, we worked with our Talk Partners to explore masses using grams and kilograms. We found different ways of making 1kg using a variety of masses. This helped us solve problems.

Tuesday 5 May 2026 3FW Weekly Update w/e 01/05/26 This week in PSHE, we learnt that in an emergency it is important to remain calm, quick reactions can save lives and what we can do to help in an emergency, using our First Aid knowledge.

Tuesday 5 May 2026 3MG Weekly Update w/e 01/05/26 In Maths, we played a game where we had to crack the code by reading and finding missing values on a scale. We needed to determine the increments.

Tuesday 28 April 2026 3MG Weekly Update w/e 24/04/26 This week in Forest School and Science we have been learning about sedimentary, igneous and metaphoric rocks. We used magnifying glasses to study rocks such as marble and limestone to see if we could identify what type of rock they are.

Tuesday 28 April 2026 3FW Weekly Update w/e 24/04/26 This week in English, the children have been writing historical fiction about the eruption of Mount Vesuvius in AD 79. They have tried to use all of their senses to describe what happened.

Tuesday 21 April 2026 3MG Weekly Update w/e 17/04/26 In English, we used illustrations from the book 'Escape to Pompeii' to make inferences about the images based on what we could see in the picture."

Tuesday 21 April 2026 3FW Weekly Update w/e 17/04/26 This week the children have been introduced to a new book Literacy, 'Escape from Pompeii' by Christina Balit. Using their understanding of the characters in the text, the children wrote direct speech using inverted commas to punctuate it correctly.
