Pupil Premium

What is Pupil Premium?

The Pupil Premium provides additional funding on top of the main funding a school receives. It is targeted at students from disadvantaged backgrounds to ensure they benefit from the same opportunities as students from less deprived families. From September 2025, the premium will be worth £1550 (per eligible student) and is allocated to students who at any point in the past 6 years have been in receipt of Free School Meals (FSM);  Schools will receive £2,690 for any pupil: identified in the October 2025 school census or the alternative provision census as having left local authority care as a result of: adoption, a special guardianship order, a child arrangements order (previously known as a residence order),who has been in local authority care for 1 day or more or recorded as both eligible for FSM in the last 6 years and as being looked after (or as having left local authority care).

For pupils who attract the £2,690 rate, the virtual school head of the local authority that looks after the pupil will manage the funding.

Finally £360 is allocated to students whose parent/parents are currently serving in the armed forces or are in receipt of a pension from the MoD.
