Tuesday 23 June 2026 1H Weekly Update w/e 19/06/26 This week 1H enjoyed a special music afternoon when they were able to enjoy a series of musical activities based on our current London topic. We used stretchy Lycra whilst following the tempo of a song called "Floating Down the River" as well as learning some other action songs.

Friday 19 June 2026 1P Weekly Learning 19/06/26 This week the children learnt all about different types of money from a visitor from Museum on the mound. The children then created their own coins.

Friday 12 June 2026 1H Weekly Learning 12/06/2026 This week in maths the children have been using 100 squares to practice counting up to 100. They looked at the patterns of numbers when counting in 2s, 5s and 10s. In pairs the children played a game where they had to roll a dice and move their counter that many steps on the 100 frame until the first person reached 100.

Friday 12 June 2026 Year 1 French Update w/e 12/06/26 Year 1 pupils made their own vocabulary dice and learnt how to play some games to practise school stationery, responding to the question Qu’est-ce que c’est?

Friday 12 June 2026 1P Weekly Learning w/e 12/06/2026 This week the children made their own crosses and wrote things that were special to them on the crosses.

Thursday 11 June 2026 1H Weekly Update w/e 05/06/26 This week 1H enjoyed exploring the features of different leaves in forest school. They were asked to go outside and choose 3 different leaves and, from those three, they picked their favourite one and wrote about why it was their favourite, describing the features.

Wednesday 10 June 2026 1P Weekly Update w/e 05/06/26 This week in History, the children started learning about The Great Fire of London. They ordered the events on a timeline.

Tuesday 2 June 2026 1P Weekly Update w/e 22/05/26 This week in maths, the children learnt about different turns including a full turn, half turn, quarter turn and three-quarter turn. The children practiced their turns on shapes.

Tuesday 2 June 2026 1H Weekly Update w/e 22/05/26 This week for DT the children in 1H looked at different bridge structures and how they were built. They then worked in groups with different resources to build their own bridges, carefully thinking about what they needed to ensure the stability of their bridges.

Wednesday 20 May 2026 1H Weekly Update w/e 15/05/26 This week in 1H the children learned about the Dutch artist, Vincent van Gogh. They learned about his most famous paintings and then focussed on his series of paintings of sunflowers.

Tuesday 19 May 2026 1P Weekly Update w/e 15/05/26 This week in DT, the children practiced their team work skills by constructing a bridge together in groups. The children designed, built and evaluated their bridges as a group.

Tuesday 12 May 2026 1H Weekly Update w/e 08/05/26 For Art and Forest School this week, the children in 1H learned about something called transient art. This is art that is non-permanent and often uses natural resources which are then returned back to nature.

Tuesday 5 May 2026 1H Weekly Update w/e 01/05/26 After practising their lines and songs daily for a few weeks the children in 1H absolutely shone in their Prayer Service. They remembered their lines and read them clearly and sang like angels. 

Tuesday 5 May 2026 1P Weekly Update w/e 01/05/26 This week, the children worked together in groups to create maps for our enchanted forest.

Tuesday 28 April 2026 1P Weekly Update w/e 25/04/26 This week, the children created animals with natural resources they found in forest school.

Tuesday 28 April 2026 1H Weekly Update w/e 24/04/26 Last week the children in 1H continued their focus on weighing, this time comparing the mass of objects using cubes. They chose an object to put in one bucket of the scales then used cubes to see how many they would need to make the scales balance.

Tuesday 21 April 2026 1H Weekly Update w/e 17/04/26 In 1H the children have been learning to weigh objects using balance scales. They were able to say when one object was heavier or lighter than the other and give their reasons why they knew that.

Tuesday 21 April 2026 French Weekly Update w/e 17/04/26 Y1 pupils practised family vocabulary by playing Le Jeu des 7 Familles in teams. Then we learned the actions to a fun song about La Famille Doigts - a family of fingers!

Tuesday 21 April 2026 1P Weekly Update w/e 17/04/26 This week the children were learning about how we can measure objects in centimetres using a ruler.

Friday 10 April 2026 1H Weekly Update w/e 27/03/26 As part of our topic about space the childrenin 1H enjoyed using various construction toys to build their own rockets. When we came back after half term we were able to talk about the amazing Artemis mission around the moon and the children demonstrated the ability to talk about what they had seen and understood of the mission.
