Jubilee Celebration Day
On Friday 21st November, we came together in a special Celebration of the Word assembly, reflecting on all the incredible things achieved by children locally, nationally and globally this Jubilee year. We gave thanks for the inspiring work of CAFOD and other organisations, and reflected on our pledge to support Noah’s Ark Children’s Hospice. We joined the World Youth Sunday livestream, uniting with young people everywhere in faith and hope. To finish off, we celebrated with a well-deserved ice lolly in class — a sweet treat for all our hard work this Jubilee year!
Jubilee Celebration Day
Spring Term 2025
Jubilee Workshop 1
The Pupil Chaplaincy Team and the Rights Respecting Ambassadors joined forces to take part in our first Jubilee Year Workshop. The 2025 theme is ‘Pilgrims of Hope’ and the children have been hard at work preparing for the launch day on Friday 24th January. They had training on how to lead a Jubilee Year Celebration of the Word for their peers and finally they created posters to promote the Jubilee Year around the school. It was amazing to see children from Year 2 all the way up to Year 6 collaborating together and sharing their ideas so effectively.
Jubilee Launch Day
We celebrated the official launch of the Jubilee Year for schools! We gathered together in assembly as a school community and listened to how Pope Francis has asked us to celebrate this special year with a deep faith, lively hope and active charity. We listened to how Cafod are bringing hope to communities across the world and reflected on how we can trust in God, look forward with hope, and show love to others through kind and caring actions during this very special year for the Church.
Jubilee Workshop 2
The Pupil Chaplains and Rights Respecting Ambassadors from Year 2 to Year 6 came together again on for another very productive workshop to plan our school’s Jubilee Year. They prepared speeches and beautiful posters that they delivered to their respective classes, informing them about what the Jubilee Year is and why we are celebrating it in school.
They also thoughtfully engaged in a Visio Divina (‘divine seeing’) prayer session centred around artwork from Ethiopia. The chaplains and ambassadors will help their teachers to carry out this session in their classrooms in the coming in weeks.
The children have been greatly inspired by the theme ‘Pilgrims of Hope’, and we discussed possible local and global scale Jubilee Year pledges that we can implement in school over the next year. They are very eager to get to work in preparation for Jubilee Pledge Day in June. Thank you to all of the Rights Respecting Ambassadors and Pupil Chaplains for your enthusiasm and commitment.

Summer Term 2025
Festival of Hope
In June 2025, our Caritas Ambassadors proudly represented St Catherine’s at the Festival of Hope—a joyful and faith-filled event held at Westminster Cathedral for schools across the Westminster Diocese. The festival marked the Jubilee Year of Hope, celebrating unity, service, and the enduring love of Christ.
During the celebration, His Eminence Cardinal Vincent Nichols delivered a powerful and moving homily, reminding all present of the central message: “Nothing can separate me from the love of Christ.”
The Caritas Ambassadors pledged to support CAFOD’s global debt justice campaign and added their personal pledges to the basket to be blessed by Cardinal Vincent Nichols. He also led a moving and inspiring Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament that renewed our call to be ‘Pilgrims of Hope’.
It was a truly uplifting occasion—filled with music, reflection, and a renewed commitment to live out the values of our faith. We are incredibly proud of our ambassadors for representing our school with such dignity, joy, and purpose.
Supporting Noah’s Ark – Our Jubilee Pledge
Our Jubilee Pledge is to support the work of Noah’s Ark Hospice to upholding the human dignity of sick children and their families through fundraising and visiting their services
The Year 6 Caritas Ambassadors went on a special visit to Noah’s Ark Children’s Hospice in High Barnet. They learnt about the life changing work that the hospice does to support seriously ill children and their families in our local area. Rebecca gave us a tour of their facilities, including the hydrotherapy pool, the sensory room, the soft play area and the disability accessible sensory garden and explained that the hospice is often a home away from home for the families they support.
The Ambassadors were inspired by the work that is being done at Noah’s Ark and they have begun planning how they are going to support Noah’s Ark in continuing their amazing work as part of our Jubilee Year pledge.
CAFOD's 'Cancel Debt, Choose Hope' Campaign
Year 4 supported CAFOD's campaign to call for debt justice in the 2025 Jubilee Year. They learnt about how countries like Sierra Leone are indebted to wealthy nations and banks, which stifles their development and ability to escape poverty, with devastating consequences for the people who live there. The children wrote to Dan Tomlinson, our local MP, to ask for his support with this serious global issue and received a reply.
Autumn Term 2025
Step-tember
This autumn, Noah’s Ark Children’s Hospice is inviting organisations from across our community to join From That Moment – their biggest fundraising appeal of the year. Their goal is to raise over £1 million to support children and families, and from now until the 13th of October, every pound raised will be doubled – meaning your support can go even further.
St. Catherine’s will be taking part in Noah’s Ark Hospice’s fundraising event Step-tember as part of this appeal. The children will walk, run, swim or cycle at least 90 miles together per class in September in their PE lessons (that’s around 7,000 steps each!)
Every child will receive a wristband and a certificate for taking part. If we reach the fundraising target of over £500, we will receive a trophy to keep to proudly display our support of Noah’s Ark.
From now until the 13th of October, every pound raised will be doubled. Please use this QR code in the flyer to make your donation, the link is unique to St Catherine’s so your donations will be attributed to the school. Thank you in advance for your support!
