Our Year 6 students recently participated in an enriching Barnet Citizenship trip at the Finchley Youth Theatre, where they engaged with various organisations to enhance their understanding of vital safety issues. This informative experience provided the children with the opportunity to meet representatives from Transport for London (TfL), who educated them on bus and tube safety, active travel, and effective journey planning. The session was incredibly interactive, and the students demonstrated great enthusiasm and awareness as they posed insightful questions. Additionally, the children learned from Hope UK about the risks associated with drugs and alcohol, including the pressures they may encounter from peers. The London Fire Brigade delivered an engaging talk on fire safety in the home, while the London Ambulance Service provided essential information on basic first aid skills. Furthermore, the Metropolitan Police’s Youth Engagement Team focused on personal safety, and their Cycle Safety Team highlighted the importance of safe cycling and e- scooter use. This trip not only broadened our children’s knowledge but also equipped them with skills that are crucial for their development and well-being. Overall, the experience was both informative and empowering, leaving a lasting impact on our Year 6 pupils.
