In Guided Reading, children reflected upon, then practised, how to read an extract from the story, ‘The Children of Winter’ ensuring it was enjoyable, comprehensive and palatable to the listener. 

6G tested their partners on the words in their spelling journals to see which ones they now knew.

Year 2 have been retelling the story of Little Red Riding Hood this week in sections – the beginning, the middle and the end.

Today, Year 1 children got creative with festive Christmas writing, filling their stories with jolly reindeer and magical holiday cheer!

This week, 4K read through the playscript, Romeo and Juliet. In groups, they read and performed the roles of Romeo, Juliet, Mercutio, Tybalt and the Nurse. 

 4F acted Act 1, Scene 5 of “Romeo and Juliet” as part of their Potions topic, focusing on how language reveals a character’s emotions and relationships with others.

In spellings, 6G decided whether words were spelt -tious or -cious by deciphering what their root was and looking at the spelling rule. For example, malice- malicious.

In English, we practised using ‘Outside. (Inside.) sentences, which tell not just what a character is going but also what they’re thinking and feeling, to use in our Plague Doctor diaries.
