Girl’s Football v Underhill

Last Friday our girls football team went to Underhill for a season defining match, knowing a win would see us leapfrog our opponents and jump into 2nd place in the table. Our girls were full of confidence after their recent 5-0 win in their last league game and started strongly taking the game to Underhill, however Underhill hit us with a quick counter attack to take the lead half way through the first half. Our girls responded really well to going behind and deserved to at least be drawing at half time. Thankfully, after the break we came out strongly & quickly equalised from a long-range free kick from Amelie. The game was in the balance until Alexandra popped up with her 3rd goal of the week to seal the comeback. Our girls defended proudly to see us through to a memorable three points to lift us into 2nd place going into the business end of the season. We now have 2 home games to wrap up the season and to see where that takes us in term of pushing for top spot. We’re proud of you girls but more is still to come, let’s go St. Catherine’s!
