Boy’s Football v Alma (Central Cup Semi-Final)

Last Friday we hosted our first home game of the season here at St. Catherine’s and it was a big one. It was the semi-final of the central cup against the toughest possible opponent this season – Alma. Alma have been flying all season but our boys are also on a fine run of form themselves so we approached this game with an air of optimism. Alma started the game strongly with their quick passing and moving style and created the match’s first few dangerous opportunities. Our boys had just started to grow into the game when Alma opened the scoring from a corner, which led to a scramble in the box before it was headed home to give the visitors the lead. At half- time we regrouped and came out fighting in search for the equaliser but it wasn’t to be our day and after a valiant effort from our boys, Alma held on to their 1-0 lead to progress to the final. Heart break at the final whistle was soon followed by a sense of pride as the progress the boys have made is clear to see. We now have to focus on the league to ensure we finish as high as possible up the table. Let’s go boys!
