In English, we have been focussing on the story ‘The Secret Garden’ by Frances Hodgson-Burnett. We started by looking at the main character, Mary Lennox, describing how she changes throughout the story. We also analysed literary techniques used by Hodgson-Burnett, such as, figurative language, sentences with relative clauses and plant/garden vocabulary.
In Maths, we have finished our fraction topic. Our next topic is ‘Percentages and Decimals’. The children are really looking forward to this topic.
In RE, we read the parable of ‘The Prodigal Son’ and discussed the father and older son’s reaction to the younger son returning. We then thought about the message of the parable and how God teaches us to love and forgive.

Every Thursday morning, we start our day with the Times Table Championships. The children have six minutes to answer 64 multiplication calculations. Please encourage your child to practise their times tables at home. They can do this by going on to Times Table Rockstars or Purple Mash. If your child needs login details for either of these websites, please let their class teacher know.
