Ash Wednesday and Lenten Boxes

We are very lucky at St Catherine’s to serve 2 parishes and 2 priests on our governing body. Thank you to Fr David who welcomed Year 3 and 4 to St Peters this Wednesday to celebrate mass and receive ashes on this holy day of obligation. The Year 5 and 6 attended mass at St Greory’s where Year 6 children carried out the readings clearly and reverently. All of the children sang beautifully. Fr John and the parishioners at St Gregorys made us feel very welcome. Fr David then came to St Catherine’s in the afternoon to distribute ashes to the staff and children in the Early Years and Key Stage 1. The children have been learning about Lent and are making Lenten promises as we encourage them to look towards Jesus, our hope, and invite Him to be at the centre of our lives and our Lenten journey. We have also distributed the Lenten boxes to raise money for the Catholic Children’s Society. These boxes can be returned at the end of Lent after the Easter holidays. Thank you in advance for whatever you can give.
