This week in Year 1 we have immersed ourselves into our new topic: Superheroes. We’ve had two fantastic visits this week from the police and a doctor who have explained about their Superhero job! During our police visit the children were informed of the police’s purpose: to protect the community. The police described the different types of officers and who to call in the event of an emergency. The police explained the components of their uniforms and even let the children try on their hats and badges! In the last part of their visit, the children were escorted to look inside a police van which they all loved!
Additionally, we had another exciting visit from a doctor! The doctor informed the children of his speciality and how he helps though who have stomach aches and pains. The doctor called children to examine their hearts, lungs and stomachs using his stethoscope. The children loved every minute of this visit and were keen to ask lots of questions!
