Year 4 Weekly Update – 7/10/22

Dear Parents and Carers,

We have had another busy week in Year 4 and all pupils have worked so hard. They have produced some excellent work in English and successfully applied their editing skills to improve it. Children are doing a fantastic job of being independent learners and are really enjoying choosing their activities in all subjects.

The new tournament on Times table Rockstar’s between 4S and 4B has now ended and the scores have been collected: 4S totalled 418 points and 4B received 435, making 4B the winners!

This week we are very excited for our residential trip to Cuffley Camp. We will be leaving on Thursday morning.

Please find attached your child’s learning, spelling and times table for next week.

Spellings:

Our focus is this week is again homophones meaning words that have the same sound but different spellings, therefore please encourage your child to practise these words in a sentence.

One, won, fir, fur, mail, male, hair, hare, night, knight, beech, beach

Times tables: Next week we will be focusing on the 8 times tables. We will be practicing fluency and looking for patterns within the 8 times tables. Please practice at home using both times table rock stars and purple mash. Please ensure your child is completing the home learning times table test on purple mash.

English: Next week in English we will be writing our very own Roman Menus. Children will visit a ‘Roman Banquet’ in the classroom, then use what we have learnt to inspire our menus.

Maths: In Maths, we will be learning to place numbers up to 10, 000 on a number line, to compare and order them. We will also be learning about Roman Numerals.

RE: In RE we are continuing to ask and respond to questions about Biblical figures and exploring their experiences, feelings and beliefs.

PSHE: Next week in PSHE we will spend time reflecting on how reflecting on all things we are thankful for can help our wellbeing.
