Year 1 Weekly Update – 30/09/22

As part of our Memory box History lesson Year 1 were shown photographs of artefacts that were used in the past. They were told these were once everyday objects. The antique artefacts shown to the children included a wooden whisk, a wooden camera, a telephone, a radio, a washboard, a television, a cassette tape and a gramophone. The children discussed within their learning partners what they think the artefact might be and were asked to explain their reasoning. Each artefact had a reveal at the end where we discussed how each object was used in the past and if the object is still used in the present and how it has changed. 1N and 1K then encouraged to write sentences describing the artefacts.
