Year 1 Weekly Update – 17/06/22

RE:  We will learn and understand thank we can ask Jesus to help us when we are afraid.

Topic: We will be using locational language and start to look at instructions. We are targeting our focus on the use of punctuation, especially the use of capital letters and full stops correctly!
Science: We will be labelling the parts of plants and flowers.
Handwriting: We will start practising forming capital and lower case letters correctly in print. We have attached a capital letter formation document for your reference.
Phonics: We will continue to “Grow the Code”

What can I do at home?
Read with your child at least 10 minutes per day. Sound out on fingers or out loud. Children should identify and spot any digraphs or trigraphs that they can see.
Maths: In maths we will be learning to compare and order numbers to 100 and tell one less and one more.
What can I do at home?
Visit Topmarks website and Purple Mash for fun educational games that can support your child’s learning. Yu can also practise counting with your child while walking back home
PSHE-RHE: We will discuss about places that we can keep our money at and that some places are safer than the others eg money box or the bank.
  • Please could we ask each child to bring in a wildflower on their way to school for our science lesson this Friday

  • Climbing frame before and afterschool is out of use
  • Scooters are not permitted in the main playground at dismissal times
