Year 4 Weekly Update – 17/06/22

Dear Parents and Carers,

Year 4 had such a wonderful time at Cuffley Learning Centre last week! We hope you have enjoyed hearing all about it from the children. All the St Catherine’s staff were so proud of how fantastic Year 4 were throughout the trip, they really made the experience lots of fun! This week we are looking forward to drafting our own powerful poems about Ocean pollution and getting started with our multiplication checks. Please find your child’s learning and home learning below.

Spellings: This week’s spellings will focus on the suffix ‘ous’ Please encourage your child to look for the root word (for example in the word courageous, courage is the root word) and discuss how adding the suffix ‘ous’ impacts the words meaning.

Courageous, Mountainous, Spacious, Furious, Poisonous, Various, Famous, Dangerous

Please find below a helpful link to use when discussing suffixes.

Your child has been set a try it check on purple mash- this is titled Multiplication- Home test

English: We will be applying emotive writing techniques such as personification and similes to our poems.

Maths: In Maths we will be working on halving decimals and consolidating what we have learnt so far about decimals

RE: In RE next week we will be continuing our earning about Paul and Silas

Library: Please ensure your child brings their library books back to school every Monday. If they wish to keep the same book for an additional week it needs to be checked out once more from the Library.

  • Library books returned to school on Monday
