Year 5 Weekly Update – 20/05/22

Dear Parents,

Thank you for all your support with year 5’s Prayer Service, we are really proud of the children for performing well and sharing the message of ‘life in the risen Jesus’.

Miss Kelly commented on how independent the children were. Their singing was lovely and they shared the message clearly and articulately. We are really proud of them.

Next Friday is Jubilee Day, we are looking forward to inviting you into our classrooms. One of our activities is decorating  t-shirt. If you would like to do this activity with your child, please bring in a plain t-shirt on the day. Another activity will be available for anyone who doesn’t have a t-shirt.

In Guided Reading, we continued with Diver’s Daughter: A Tudor Story. Looking at new vocabulary and using evidence in the text to explain our understanding.

In RE, we explored the story of Pentecost and how the Disciples felt. We also discussed what impact the Holy Spirit has on us today.

In English, we have written letters in the role of Anne Boleyn. We used lots of different persuasive techniques, such as, flattery and emotive language to try and persuade Henry that we (Anne Boleyn) are innocent.

In Maths, we’ve been adding and subtracting decimals.

In PSHE, we have been continuing to look at the Principles of Catholic Social teaching

Next week:

In Computing we will be preparing a short presentation on the Tudors, explaining what we have learnt this term. We will also be doing some Times Table Rockstars competitions so please ensure you are practising regularly at home.

In Geography, we will be looking at maps of the Tower of London and plotting Anne Boleyn’s final journey.

In History, we will be looking at different sources to find out about ‘crime and punishment’ during the Tudor period.

In Maths, we will be looking at problem solving while adding and subtracting decimals.

In English, we will be publishing our Anne Boleyn letters, to be displayed in our classroom.

In PSHE, we will be looking at ‘Working together and Aspirations’.
