Year 5 Weekly Update – 13/05/22

Dear Parents,

We are looking forward to sharing our Prayer Service with you next week. If your child has a speaking role, they should have taken their lines home with them on Thursday. Please help them to practise and learn their lines at home.

In English, we analysed a letter from Anne Boleyn to Henry VIII, written while she was in the Tower of London. We have also started to revise some persuasive techniques, such as, the use of modal verbs.

In Maths, we have been learning how to find equivalent fractions, decimals and percentages.

In History, we looked at Anne Boleyn’s crimes and debated whether we thought she was innocent or guilty of the crimes of treason and witchcraft.

In Computing, we have collected data about our opinion of Henry VIII: ‘Was he a terrible tyrant or a misunderstood monarch?’ We then used computer software to put the data into graphs.

Next week:

In English, we will continue to look at how we can use a range of persuasive techniques in our writing and start to write our persuasive letters in the role of Anne Boleyn.

In Maths, we will be learning to add and subtract decimals.

In PSHE, we will be learning about the principles of Catholic Social teaching and how we can use these in our local community.

In Guided Reading, we will be continuing to read ‘The Diver’s Daughter’.
