Age ratings are useful to help you decide what is appropriate for your child. It is important to remember that apps and games are rated differently to films and there is lots more to consider. Apps stores have classification systems but there are also developer’s recommendations and PEGI ratings and often, not all of these match up. While they are a useful guide, not one of the rating systems takes full account of all risks that an app or game may present. For example, the PEGI rating considers the content of the game itself but doesn’t take into account any risks associated with the communication features. It is recommended therefore that you look further than just the age ratings when considering the suitability of the game for your child and also read reviews from other users, as well as downloading and trying the game yourself.
