Year 4 Weekly Update – 25/03/22

Year 4 has thoroughly enjoyed this week’s learning so far, from challenging fractions to being creative in forest school. It has been an excellent start to our penultimate week of term. Please find next week’s learning and reminders below:

Spelling Focus: Year 3 and 4 common exception words. Please find a word mat attached to this email to display and use at home.

Times tables: Year 4 will be having a variety of times table checks throughout the week in preparation for the Year 4 times table check later this year. Please continue to learn all times tables from 2 – 12. A times table poster has been attached to this email to support your child at home. 

Maths: The students will spend time revisiting prior math topics taught and continue to build upon their fractions and times table knowledge

Guided Reading: Year 4 will continue to develop their ‘VIPER’ reading skills and complete a variety of comprehension-based tasks.

Art: As part of our ‘Road Trip USA’ topic the children will be creating a journey stick that represents their learning and journey through Year 4 so far.

Science: Year 4 will continue to learn about electricity by identifying whether a lamp will light in a simple series circuit, based on whether the lamp is part of a complete loop with a battery.

English: Children will continue to learn about Native American tales and myths. Year 4 will also continue to build upon their letter formation of; al pt oh rh vk wt in the cursive style.
