Wink is an app that launched in 2020 that provides a platform for children to make new snap (Snapchat) friends by swiping left and right on strangers’ images. It functions in a similar way to Hoop. Whilst the app requires a minimum age of 13, it has no stringent age verification checks meaning younger children can easily enter a fake date of birth. Children occasionally connect with strangers online simply to increase their friend count, which is just one of potential risks of this app. We strongly encourage you to check that your child is not using Wink or any other Friend-Finding Apps that could pose a risk to their safety.
