Dear parents,
This week in English the children have been recapping what is reported and what is direct speech. They have been trying to create their own reported speech sentences. They have also learning how to write an effective character description, using interesting adjectives.
In Maths we have begun our new topic of statistics. The children have been learning about to make a tally and interpret a pictogram. Later on this week the children will be learning how to create their own pictograms.
In Geography the children have been learning what an enquiry question is and how to use a tally and fieldwork to answer one.
In R.E the children have been learning how to be a good person, as Jesus has taught us, and apply this in our own lives.
Home Learning
This week your child will be sent home their times tables rockstars login on Friday, after being introduced to it in our computing lesson. Please make sure to log on to this website regularly at home, as it will really help your child to learn their times tables. In Year 2 we focus on learning our 10, 5 and 2 times tables.
For spellings we are continuing to learn about homophones (words which sound the same but are spelt differently and have a different meaning). Please help your child to learn the following words:
sun
son
one
won
here
hear
Tricky Words:
very
really
For the homophones they need to know which spelling to use, when told a sentence.
Please also make sure to listen to your child read every night and sign their reading record.
Thanks for your support.
Best wishes,
Mrs. Whyatt and Miss Fielden
