Year 4 Weekly Update – 11/02/22

Dear Parents and Carers,

Year 4 have come to the end of their first half term of the year! We have all thoroughly enjoyed our Saxon and Viking topic, they especially enjoyed utilising the forest school to create Viking weaponry and Rune Stones. Forest school will continue next half term so please continue to provide appropriate footwear. Our next topic will be ‘Road trip USA’ where we will be meeting the Iroquois tribe; Native Americans with amazing customs and traditions as well as practicing our map and navigation skills. Please find attached the knowledge organiser for next term and introduce this to your child over half term.

There will be no spelling assessment for the first week back. Over half term please continue to practice the year 3 / 4 common exception words. A copy of the entire list has been attached to this email. During spelling lessons this week we will be looking at plural/ possessive apostrophes, please practice these at home using this link to help further your child’s understanding.

Times tables: Please continue to focus on the 12 times tables. The children are continuing to prepare for the year 4 multiplication check which takes place this June. It is important that your child is regularly accessing the purple mash times table tests which are in their weekly 2Dos.

English: Next term we will looking at sending postcards to launch our new topic.

Maths: In Maths we will continue to work on our multiplication and division skills.

Forest School: As part of our D+T project after half term we will be creating dream catchers, for this we are collecting plastic lids (From dips and hummus pots etc.), if you have any donations please bring them into school.

  • PE day’s are Tuesday and Wednesday
  • Forest School on Tuesday will require wellies/ waterproof shoes
  • If you have any plastic lids from dips please bring them in to be used in forest school!
