
Dear Parents and Carers,
Year 4 have had an excellent week so far learning about Alfred the Great and creating Anglo-Saxon rune stones in forest school. Year 4 have also enjoyed a virtual visit to a Viking Village during their Guided Reading lessons. Please find below your Child’s home learning and learning for next week.
Spellings:
This week in spellings we will be focusing on the homophones below, please encourage your child to use them in a sentence to differentiate between the words meaning.
Scene, Seen Mail, Male, Ball, Bawl, their, there and they’re
Times tables: Please focus on the 12 times tables. The children are continuing to prepare for the year 4 multiplication check which takes place this June. It is important that your child is regularly accessing the purple mash times table tests which are in their weekly 2Dos.
English: Next week in English we will be analysing some Viking poetry as well as creating our own!
Maths: Next week in Maths we will be multiplying 2 digits by 1 digit, multiplying 3 digits by one digit and dividing two digits by 1 digit.
RE: Next week in RE we will be continuing our learning of the parables.
Forest School: For home learning this week please practice tying knots in preparation for their next forest school session. This can be a simple knot such as tying shoe laces. As part of our D+T project after half term we will be creating dream catchers, for this we are collecting plastic lids (From dips and hummus pots etc.), if you have any donations please bring them into school.
Reminders:
- PE day’s are Tuesday and Wednesday
- Forest School on Tuesday will require wellies/ waterproof shoes
- Friday 4th February- wear something blue or yellow to celebrate the arts hub
