Times tables (number bonds)
To support our addition and subtraction learning, please practise adding and subtracting within 20. It is really important that the children are able to answer these addition and subtraction questions quickly so that they can access our learning on adding and subtracting 3-digit numbers.

Maths
In maths, we will finish our addition and subtraction work and move on to estimation, inverses and then start to look at grouping for multiplication.
Literacy
In literacy, we have been writing about the Greek god Zeus. We have been using powerful adjectives and different sentence types such as paired conjunctions to describe him. We will then be writing character profiles describing Zeus’s looks, personality and family.
RE
Our RE topic for this half term is reconciliation. This week we will be reflecting on wrong choices and how Jesus called people away from sin. Next week, we will learn about the story of Zacchaeus.
Computing
This week, the children will be using the web to research facts about Zeus and consider where would be best to find information.
Art and DT
Last week, we designed a 3D head for one of the Greek gods and godesses. Over the next few weeks, we will use papier mache to make a model.
RHE
This week, we are looking at TenTen module 2, unit 3, session 1: sharing online and how to be safe. Next week, we will look at TenTen module 2, unit 3, session 2: chatting online: appropriate behaviour and what to do if they feel uncomortable. There are videos that accompany the lessons but we will not be showing this to the children. Instead, we will discuss things you shouldn’t share online such as pictures, your address or your school as well as, what to do if they encounter any problems online. We will also discuss how information and pictures can be shared quickly online.
Geography
In geography, we have been looking at maps of Greece and drawing sketch maps of Greece with some of the most important features from Ancient Greece.
History
In history, we have looked at artefacts from Ancient Greece and we discussed what we could learn from them. We also created our own timelines of Ancient Greece. Next, we will move on to learning about everyday life in Ancient Greece.
Forest School
We will be doing Forest School every Wednesday for this term. Please bring in wellies or other sensible shoes on Wednesdays.
Kind regards,
Year 3 Team
