Dear parents,
This week in Literacy we have been continuing our diary entries as Little Red Riding Hood. The children have also been learning how to write questions and empathise with the wolf in the story.
In Maths the children have been learning to subtract two 2 digit numbers. They have been working practically and learning to record these as column subtraction sums. We have also been learning our number bonds to 10 and using these to help us work out our number bonds to 20. Later on this week we will be using our number bonds to 10 to help us work out our number bonds to 100.
In R.E the children have been been learning about the Annunciation.
In science the children have been learning about materials and why different materials have been chosen for different objects.
In D & T we have been designing our models we would like to make next week. These are of local buildings eg The Spires, the church, our school, houses or the post office. Please talk to your child about which local building they have planned to make and help them collect the materials to make this for next Tuesday. They will all need a cereal box, or similar sized box. Some may also like to bring in kitchen roll tubes, small boxes eg yoghurt pot size, coloured paper and masking tape, as these would help to improve their models. Thanks for your help with this.
Home Learning – For home learning this week, please help your child to learn the following words:
old
both
class
grass
only
father
who
whole
Please also help your child to learn their 10s, 5s and 2 times tables. Please also make sure to listen to your child read every day for about ten minutes and sign their reading record.
Thank you for your support.
Best wishes,
Mrs Whyatt and Miss Fielden
