Dear Parents,
Thank you for your ongoing support this term, the children are flourishing in Year 4 and have really enjoyed their learning so far this half term. They are also very excited to show you their Nativity! Below is your child’s home learning and learning for next week.
Spellings: Next week in spelling we will be spelling words with the ‘ei’ sound and the ‘ch’ sound:
Spelling Words: They, weigh, eight, grey, sleigh, chef, brochure, parachute, machine
Times tables: Continue to focus on the 12 times tables to increase recall skills . We will now set a weekly times table activity on purple mash to support your child in preparing for the multiplication check which will take place next year. This activity will appear in their 2Dos for them to do at home but it will not be marked by the teachers.
Multiplication check in June: The MTC is an online test were the pupils are asked 25 questions on times tables 2 to 12. For every question you have 6 seconds to answer and in between the questions there is a 3 second rest. Questions about the 6, 7, 8, 9, and 12 times table come up more often. The questions are generated randomly based on the rules of the MTC.
English: Next Week in English we will be reading sections from ‘Macbeth’ focusing on poetry.
Maths: Year 4 will continue to learn about perimeter and length. They will also begin their new maths topic which will be multiplication and division.
Science: Year 4 will continue to learn about states of matter and temperature.
RE: In our RE lessons the children will be thinking of and recording their advent promises.
