Times tables
Please start to learn 4 times tables up to 6 x 4. Remember, Purple Mash games are great for this. To challenge your child, they could try recalling the related division facts. E.g. 12 ÷ 4 = 3 They could then recall the multiplication and division fact families for each times table.
Another great website for times tables games and activities is:
This week, we have put our usual maths learning on hold to engage in a range of problem solving, reasoning and puzzle style activities in celebration of maths week. This has been a great way of developing children’s mathematical language and thinking. During November, we also participate in Barvember. This is where children solve a problem each day using a bar model. Next week in maths, we will be adding and subtracting two 3-digit numbers.
Literacy
In literacy, we will be finishing our information books about the Stone Age and begin our sequence of learning on narrative writing.
RE
In RE, we will retell the story of the Annunciation and do some art based around this story.
PSHE
Next week is antibullying week. We will recap what bullying is and discuss friendships and kindness.
Science
We will look at parts of the plant and their functions.
Nativity
As you may have heard, we have started to practise our songs for the nativity. We have attached two of the songs we will be practising next week should your child wish to continue practising them at home.
Kind regards,
Year 3 Team
