Year 3 Weekly Update – 05/11/21

Dear Parents and Carers,
We hope you had a wonderful half term! It was lovely to see the children back in school yesterday and to be able to visit St Peter’s with them for mass. Thank you to all of the parents who joined us.

Spellings: homophones: when practising, make sure that your child knows the meaning of the different spellings for each homophone.

Times tables

Please continue practise 3 times tables.  Remember, Purple Mash games are great for this. To challenge your child, they could try recalling the related division facts. E.g. 12 ÷ 2 = 6 They could then recall the multiplication and division fact families for each times table.

E.g. 6 x 2 = 12,  2 x 6 = 12,  12 ÷ 2 = 6,  12 ÷ 6 = 2

Another great website for times tables games and activities is:

Our new topic is called Tribal Tales. Please find the knowledge organiser for this attached.
Maths

This week in maths we are adding and subtracting 3-digit and 2-digit numbers. Next week, we will be adding and subtracting two 3-digit numbers.

Literacy

In literacy, we will be writing information books about the Stone Age using information the children will have discovered on the trip next week.

RE

In RE this week, we will be learning about Diwali. Next week, we will learn that God chose Mary to be the mother of His Son and explain the importance of being chosen.

PSHE

In PSHE next week, we will look at why and how rules and laws protect themselves and others.

History

This week, the children started their new topic Tribal Tales by comparing their lives to the lives of people in the Stone Age. Next week, they will compare the settlements and tools from the early Stone Age to Iron Age.

Kind regards,
