Year 3 Weekly Update – 15/10/21

Dear Parents and Carers,
Next week, will be our final week of the half term. We are so proud of how well the children have worked and settled in to the routines and learning in KS2 this half term.

Spellings: rarer spellings of ay:

vein
rein
straight
grey
prey
obey
they
weigh
sleigh
eight

Times tables

Please continue practise 3 times tables.  Remember, Purple Mash games are great for this. To challenge your child, they could try recalling the related division facts. E.g. 12 ÷ 2 = 6 They could then recall the multiplication and division fact families for each times table.

E.g. 6 x 2 = 12,  2 x 6 = 12,  12 ÷ 2 = 6,  12 ÷ 6 = 2

Another great website for times tables games and activities is:

www.timestables.co.uk
Maths

In our addition and subtraction learning, we have been adding and subtracting 1-digit from 3-digits. Next week, we will move on to adding and subtracting 2-digits from 3-digit.

Literacy

In literacy, we will be using similes to create vivid descriptions.

RE

To finish our RE unit for this half term, we will be making links between the Church family and our families at home.

PSHE

We will be learning about different feelings and strategies to manage them.

Science

In science, we will be looking at how humans and some other animals have skeletons and muscles for support, protection and movement.

History

Today, the children had an assembly about South African history and more specifically the Anti-Apartheid Movement in Barnet. Next week, we will be looking at sources related to this.

Computing

This week, the children will continue to use the web to find more information about birds of prey which they will write about on a word document.

Kind regards,

Year 3 Team
