Year 5 Weekly Update – 08/10/21

Dear Parents,

Thank you for all the Harvest Festival donations this week. The children enjoyed learning about harvest festivals around the world this week. They also really enjoyed creating Lego pyramids in DT! They have also worked extremely hard on their mystery stories.

The spellings to learn at home this week are unique to your child – they have a personalised spelling list based on spelling errors they have made so far this year, or mistakes they have made in spelling tests. They should be in your child’s bag. We have aimed to check that they spellings they have taken home are accurate, but please do correct your child if they have incorrectly copied down a spelling onto their sheet.

Next week:

In maths, we will be completing our unit on ‘Addition and Subtraction’ and beginning a new unit on ‘Statistics’.

In English, we will be using our reading skills to research different groups in Ancient Egyptian society and beginning to write fact files to present this information.

In RE, the children have two services to attend: a harvest festival on Monday and a ‘New Academic Year’ mass on Tuesday.

In PSHE, we will be learning to recognise the importance of self respect and how this affects our thoughts and feelings. We will be beginning to set goals and targets for ourselves.

Enjoy your weekends
