Dear parents,
This week in Literacy the children have been learning to retell the story of the Lighthouse Keeper’s Lunch both orally and in writing. They have also been learning about our key reading skills – prediction, inference, retrieval, vocabulary and sequencing and trying to apply these skills when looking at the Lighthouse Keeper’s Lunch.
In Maths the children have been learning how to use a place value chart and also a part-whole model to separate a 2-digit number into tens and ones. The children have been learning how to create an addition sum from this eg 90 + 1 = 91. They have also been learning how to partition a 2-digit number in alternative ways eg 80 + 11 = 91.
In R.E the children have been reading and retelling the story of Abraham and Sarah.
