Dear parents/carers,
We have had a brilliant first few weeks in Year 6 and the children have really shown an excellent attitude to their learning so far. The children really enjoyed the Mayan workshop and learnt lots of new information about the Maya people. Please can you ensure that you have paid £5.35 via parentpay for this workshop by the end of the week.
The learning for next week is:
English: Write a diary entry in role as a character from Holes, analysing characters from the text
Maths: Learning about numbers to 10 million, compare and order numbers, round numbers to 10,100 and 1000. Each week one of our Maths sessions will be solely focused on arithmetic questions. This is to prepare children so that they are familiar with the types of questions they may come across in the SATs test.
RE: Reflect on the importance of responding to the invitation to the Kingdom of God and explain and evaluate our purpose.
Science: To understand how mirrors reflect light and how they help us to see objects.
PSHE: Learn about how to have a healthy lifestyle.
Guided Reading: Understanding how to infer information.
Spellings: Recapping the Y5/6 statutory spelling list. (There will not be an official spelling test this week but please revise this spelling list with your child- this document has been attached to the email.)
We look forward to seeing you all for our Year 6 curriculum meeting tomorrow at 1.30pm. Login details for this meeting will be sent to you via text later today.
In a few weeks time the children will be making their own periscopes in Science. For this the children will need to bring in an empty cardboard cereal box. Please can your child bring this in ready to use on the 20th September.
Thank you for your support,
Year 6 Team
