Year 4 Weekly Update – 10/09/21

Year 4’s weekly update: 🙂

Good afternoon,

It has been lovely to welcome the children back after the holidays. They have all settled in so well and it has been wonderful to see them engaged in their learning and spending time with their peers again. Please find below your child’s learning that will be taking place next week, spelling and their times table focus.

Library: Your child will need to return their library books on a Monday.

Spelling Assessment: This will take place on a Monday morning.

PE Days: Monday (swimming) and Tuesday

Spellings: A recap of years 3 & 4 common exception words.

Literacy/Topic: This terms topic is all about the Romans! We will be looking at the timeline of the Roman Empire, as well as what life as a Roman was like. If your child is interested in learning more about the Romans in preparation for the coming term please follow the link below. In line with our new topic, this week in English we will be focusing on historical narratives, including retelling the story of the Warrior Queen Boudicca.

Mathematics: Next week in maths we will be recapping how to place numbers on a number line up to 1000, we will also be learning how to round to nearest ten, drawing on our knowledge of the ten times table.

Times table focus: Please support your child when revisiting the 3 and 4 times tables.

RE/RHE: Next week Year 4 will be learning about the bible and its structure. They will also be learning about the importance of saying ‘sorry’ to others.

Art: The children will be designing and creating their own mosaic.
