Year 3 Weekly Update – 10/09/21

Dear Parents and Carers,

Thank you so much for attending our curriculum meeting this morning. It was fantastic to see so many of you. Below we will outline our learning for next week and you will find the spellings and times tables for home learning.

Please practise 2s, 5s and 10s at speed. Try 5 seconds maximum per question. Purple Mash has some great games for this.

In maths, we began our place value learning last week. Next week, we will look at hundreds, tens and ones, and using number lines to 1,000.

Over this week and next, we will be building up to write recounts of our experience at the predator workshops. Our recounts will include correct punctuation, 2A sentences and time adverbials.

Our topic is called the Christian Family and we have started by looking at the Holy family and our own families. Next week, we will think about the family of the Church and baptism.

In RHE, this week we will look at the story sessions from module 1 (created and loved by God), unit 1 (religious understanding) story sessions “Get Up!” The children will hear the Gospel story of Jesus healing Jairus’s daughter. The children will learn that they are created by God, out of love and for love: they were designed for this purpose. Next week, we will look at module 1, unit 1, session 1: the Sacraments which is all about Baptism and Reconciliation.

This week we will look at food chains. Next week, we will look at carnivores, herbivores and omnivores.

Over the next few weeks, we will look at the acceptable use agreement for using technology safely at school and the children will sign the agreement.
